Are My Eyes Only snaps in the Snapchat export?

Don't count on it. Snapchat's instructions for exporting Memories never mention My Eyes Only, and tools that process these exports, SnapEasy included, tell people to move snaps out of the vault before requesting their data. The safe move costs nothing: open My Eyes Only, move anything you want to keep back into Memories, and only then request the export.
Do this before you request the export
- 1. Swipe up from the camera to open Memories, swipe left to the My Eyes Only tab, and enter your passcode.
- 2. Select the snaps you want to keep and move them out of My Eyes Only, back into Memories.
- 3. Request the export: Settings → Privacy Controls → My Data, with Export your Memories and Export JSON Files ticked and the date range switched off.
- 4. If you want them private again, move them back into My Eyes Only once the export has arrived and you've downloaded every part.
If you've forgotten the passcode
Slow down here. Snapchat's reset option for a forgotten My Eyes Only passcode deletes the vault: resetting wipes the "Snaps saved with your former passcode", and Snapchat Support can't recover them or the old passcode for you.
So if you can't remember it, try every code you're likely to have used before you touch Forgot Passcode. Resetting is a one-way door, and it's the one way to lose those snaps for certain.
Checking afterwards
When the export arrives, look for a few private snaps you know should be there. If they're missing, the vault is the likely reason, and the fix is another export after moving them out. A new request is free; it just means waiting again.
Once they're back in Memories
Export as usual. The archive arrives with the dates, locations and captions stripped out, and this site puts them back in your browser, with nothing uploaded. The first 500 files are free.
