A browser-based alternative to Unsnap

Unsnap fixes the same export and, to its credit, uploads nothing. The catch is how it gets onto your device. It's a program you download and install: from the Microsoft Store on Windows, and on iPhone as a beta through Apple's TestFlight that writes straight into your photo library. The Mac version isn't out. Before any of that, it's worth asking what you're letting onto the machine that holds ten years of your photos.

When Unsnap is the better choice
If you're on Windows, comfortable installing software, and your export is small, Unsnap's free desktop app will do the job. Just know what you're agreeing to: an installed program runs with far more reach than a web page ever gets, and once it's on your computer, it stays there until you remember to remove it.
When this one is the better choice
- You're on a Mac. Unsnap's Mac version isn't out yet. This works in the browser you already have.
- You'd rather not install anything. A web page can't touch anything you didn't hand it, and when you close the tab it's gone. A download you run against your whole photo history is a different level of trust, and on a work or shared computer you may not be allowed to install it at all.
- You'd rather not run beta software on your photo library. Unsnap's iPhone app is a TestFlight beta that writes into your photo library. Beta is where bugs live. This writes new copies and never touches your library or your original ZIPs.
- You can check it without trusting anyone. Turn off your Wi-Fi after this page loads and it still works, or watch the browser's Network tab stay quiet. An installed app is much harder to see inside.
- Long videos. Snapchat cuts long recordings into 10 second clips, and this joins them back into one file.
